When a loved one passes away, your connection with them is not entirely lost. Even though it may seem far-fetched, after-death communication is possible if you know the right method for it. Stephen Berkley explores this even further with Suzanne Giesemann, a world-renowned mystic and metaphysical teacher. Together, they discuss how to fully understand messages from beyond the veil, even if sometimes they are hard to comprehend. Suzanne also explains how to create deeper connections with the spiritual world through snags, asking for signs from the afterlife, and observing proper energetic hygiene.

Suzanne Giesemann: "You Can Learn How to Hear the Dead"
We're pleased to have Suzanne Giesemann with us. Without further ado, Stephen, take it away.
Thank you, Gary. When I started making the documentary Life With Ghosts, I was not advocating for any cause. I wanted to capture on film a sweet story about my grief-stricken mother who was trying to decide whether or not to look for my father in the afterlife. I'm telling the story because the question is, why invite Suzanne Geman onto the show? Here's why.
Once my mother and others I was filming started bumping up against healthcare providers who would roll their eyes and discourage people from going this route, my motivation changed because I found very early on in my research that scientists have been gathering compelling evidence of after-death communication for quite some time. In a systematic review of the 35 studies published on after-death communication, spanning 112 years, involving 50,000 people and 24 countries, 75% of people reported one or more communications from their deceased in the first year following the death.
Those people do better with their grief than those who do not have the experience. That 75% number is a relatively new statistic from a researcher at the University of North Texas named Dr. Jenny Strahorn. There's a bit of a disconnect in our society. Many clinicians still discourage the pursuit of after-death contact, and yet the data clearly shows that most newly bereaved people perceive the presence of their deceased with one of their five senses.
Out of those people having that experience, the ones who feel supported by evidence that attests to after-death communication as a bonafide phenomenon, those people move through their grief faster and with far less suffering. Suzanne Giesemann, the former Navy commander and aid to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Of Staff, is a leader in this movement towards achieving a greater understanding of our place in the cosmos. The mediumship she practices reports on and teaches brilliantly is evidential mediumship. Plus, Suzanne has worked closely with Dr. Gary Schwartz at the University of Arizona to develop technology that will provide yet another way to stay connected with departed loved ones.
Suzanne is at the forefront of making this cross-realm correspondence accessible to everyone. If you want to learn more about the technology I'm talking about, which has been nicknamed The SoulPhone, make sure to tune into our next live show on August 5 when our guest will be Dr. Mark Pitstick, who is the Director of The SoulPhone Foundation, and will explain in detail exactly how this technology works. In September, you'll be able to see my interview with the scientist pioneering the technology, Dr. Gary Schwartz. Suzanne, welcome to the show. Let's chat.
I'm ready. I see somebody's already saying, “Can we get to the evidence piece? I'm sure he'll stay with us.”
If you were to meet Suzanne Giesemann, the Navy Commander from the year 2000, and you could impart one piece of information, what would you share and what do you think Commander Giesemann’s response would be?
It would be, “You don't have to try so hard. You're already loved.” I understand that now. Now I work hard because I'm on a mission, but it's not to get anything from anybody else. There's such a huge difference. Right there is an awakened way of teaching. It all folds into itself.
Awakened Way
I listened to an interview we did back in 2022 when you came out with the Awakened Way app, which you seemed pretty excited about at the time. Now you've come out with The Awakened Way book. This is your sixteenth book.
That one is 14th. Number 15 comes out in October and number 16 is already written waiting for next year.
I looked up on Google how many books you have written. It said sixteen. I have surmised using my own intuitive abilities that this book is special. As a reader, it's special, but I want to know how it's special to you.
What's special to me is how it flowed and unfolded. I wasn't actively channeling. When I channel my guide to Sanaya, I shift my awareness. I ask them to merge with me. I listen as their words come through in a different way. I didn't do that as I wrote, but always I wrote with the intention that they would be guiding my words. I went back and read certain sections of that book and I think, “I wrote that, but I know I didn't.” It was a collaborative process. When all of us do that in any of our work, we take work to the next level.
What I'm hearing from people who read the book is so affirming as they say, “There's an energy to it from the very first pages.” Some people said, “I started crying on the first page,” because any book carries the energy of its author. Sometimes if I know who the author is, I hear the words in the author's voice. This one may carry my energy, but it carries my guide's energy as well.
Somebody from my community asked a question in my group, and I want to relay it. Diana Dostky wrote, “I am so far unable to connect with anyone across the veil. Is it possible that no one wants to talk to me?”
You make me want to go to my phone right now and pull up the Awakened Way app. The message today talks about how you do not see your guides. It’s the same thing. Maybe you don't hear from your loved ones. Perhaps you are trying to see them in the normal human way of seeing objectively with the eyes. I could go on and on. Their point is that your loved ones are doing their best to get through to you in whatever way they can. It becomes a matter of opening to acknowledging that perhaps that blinking light is them talking to me.
Your loved ones from the afterlife are doing their best to get through to you in whatever way they can. You just have to acknowledge them.
It's not a faulty wire or perhaps the normal signs, the butterfly that landed on my hand is a sign, or perhaps the fact that I happened to glance up at that billboard and it says a word or phrase that my loved one and I used to share. That's your communication. By grace, effort, and commitment, we may open up to the communication that an evidence-based medium has where you are hearing them and seeing images that they put in our minds. In the meantime, know that there are many ways that we can see, hear, and feel our loved ones.
Spirits
My co-host Gary often will say in our Q&As, “They may be saying hello right now. You're not just picking up on it. Maybe you have too much noise in the head, or something along those lines.” There are several reasons why people aren't thinking that they're getting signs. The Awakened Way bridges the gap between who we think we are and who we are. You've said time and again that spirits want us to know they're right here and available to us. Here's the obvious question. Why can spirits be more apparent? What is the advantage of a system where our departed loved ones are nearby, but near impossible to detect for most of us? Can you speak to that a little bit?
We play hide and seek as kids. I've never given this answer before. Why do we do that? For the fun of it. The fun of when we find the person who is deliberately hiding. Where's the challenge? If all realities are immediately visible, how do we grow in learning to love and love ourselves? I learned that the more I clear up my very human behavior or my lack of self-love in the past, the more I upgrade my consciousness, the better I can connect with the spirit. The more I learn to get my doubt, fears, and lack of trust out of the way, the better my connection with spirit. It makes every day to me exciting.
“What am I going to clear out today? What am I going to find about myself that's blocking me from communicating?” Instead of saying, “I'm such a mess. I'm all gunked up,” the victim mentality. Instead, every moment of this life, which some people call a dream and some people call a game, which sounds disrespectful, but every moment of love in full expression that life is an opportunity to do even better. If we could immediately see everybody who passed, we would get bored. We would take that for granted for sure and we'd sit around eating all day.
Every moment of love in full expression is an opportunity to do even better.
Are you saying that they're hard to detect 1) because we like height and seek and/or 2) It makes life a little bit more interesting because we have to deal with people we could see and deal with easily here?
It is both. Learning to use the word both a lot is something we do need to learn because many of us grow up, especially me in the military, where everything is either black or white, but you learn that so many things are gray. Black and white is two-point logic, two-value logic. There's this thing called four-value logic where it's both, yet it's neither, yet it's this and that. You start to learn to flow a little bit more with the paradoxes that life presents to us.
Real Vs. Unreal
There is something that you say in your book also that caught my attention. I'm only going to be wanting to talk about things that caught my attention. One of them was, “You tell the reader to stop differentiating between real and unreal.” What does that mean?
People say, “I heard a phrase from my loved one. Was that real? I saw them in a dream, my loved one who passed. Was that real?” I had a visit from a being across the veil who said very clearly anything that can be created in consciousness is real and can convey truth, learning, healing, and information growth. What people are asking when they ask us something real I've come to understand is, “Is it a shared reality or is it just my reality?”
We don't give as much credit as would be helpful to our personal reality unless others have that experience as well. In evidential mediumship, we aim for a shared reality. Every experience we have is very real, but we want something that also resonates as a memory and a fact with our sitter and their loved one across the veil. It's all real because it's an experience that we're having. Is it shared by others?
That's great. That segues right into the next question that I came up with. Being in this space, I decided at some point that I couldn't keep on telling people that they should invest in after-death communication when I wasn't doing it myself. I wasn't all in. I've had experiences. I could talk about it and it makes me feel good, but I wasn't putting in the time and energy to get better. I know I had certain propensities because I guess I was hypervigilant as a kid.
I had a dad who put me in that place where I felt like I had to have my antenna very high to be safe. That leads to certain possibilities in mediumship. I started to develop. This goes along the lines of what you were saying about real versus unreal. When I have something going on spinning around in my head, I wonder, whether that is my imagination or that is a message. Because I felt like I was in contact or I felt like I was receiving downloads at that moment, “What's the difference?” is the voice I heard. Is that something that resonates with you?
It resonates with me, but it depends on what your motive is. What's your intention? If you are asking for guidance for your personal life, what matters is whether what you discerned from higher consciousness is helpful and healing, then it doesn't matter. It's still coming from the mind. What we call my mind is your particular pattern based on all your patterns of thoughts based on your past and the way your mind works.
Your mind is porous. It's constantly interacting with the one mind that we all share. When you say something is my imagination, your mind is cobbling together energy and information from your own energy field and memories and what you already know. Our intention is to get something that we don't know. The bottom line is what you discern. Many times we do already know because there's not a whole lot that's new under the sun as they say.
Is it helpful in healing? That's where the big difference comes from when you're working as a medium or a psychic. A psychic is tuning into issues that people who are still here in a body have. A medium is tuning into loved ones who have passed to help those who are still here in a body. We want to tune in for information that we don't know, but that's not coming from the person we're sitting with, but coming from beyond their mind and our mind that it's coming from the one mind and particularly perhaps the mind of loved ones across the veil or guides.
Snags
One of my other favorite parts of the book is when you talk about snags. I can't ask a specific question because I feel like you have to lay out what they are, what they're for, and how they work.
I was interviewed by somebody else and he said, “I was a little confused about this whole concept of snags.” I thought, “I thought I made that clear.”
It was clear and I loved the way you described it, but I knew I wasn’t going to be able to relay it to the audience.
If you put on a sweater made of wool and you look down and you see that you've caught it on something, there's a little bit of that material that's sticking out and it catches your attention because it stands out. You weren't even looking at your sweater, but there's this catch. I call that a snag. I invite people to look around right now, take their eyes off the screen and scan the space you are in, watch how your eyes flow and they may stop occasionally on various things to note, “That's a plant. That's a chair. That's a window.” You can ask higher consciousness, your loved ones in spirit, your guides, or anybody who has something important to share with you. You may not be able to hear them normally.
You can tell them, “Snag attention with something in my eyesight when you have a message for me.” When you ask specifically higher consciousness to snag you deliberately with a message, you will notice that catch. It's so much fun. It's super useful for those in the higher realms because now they have a way to get your attention even when you're busy. That's the problem. Most of us don't even notice what's going on around us. If you ask to be snagged, knowing it's going to be helpful, all of a sudden you're doing something and you notice that catch.
The second part of this is you have to pull the thread. On a sweater, you wouldn't pull the thread because you're going to mess up your sweater, but in a spirit's catch, for example, I got snagged by a button on this chair. It is a new chair. I never noticed that it had buttons, but I asked spirit to give me an example. As I was looking around, I got snagged by the button on the chair. What you do is you pause and each time you notice a snag, take a deep breath and relax so that we're receptive and open to hearing the message when we pull the thread. How you pull the thread is you say, “Somebody snagged me with that button on the chair. Why? What's the message?”
I heard you're going out for the third night in a row. If you don't take it easy and are present with what you eat, you're going to have to loosen the buttons on your clothes. That's funny. You can see how spirit will give you a message instantly. This gives you a chance to interact with higher consciousness, be it your guides or your loved ones all the time. They initiate it after you ask them and give them permission to snag you anytime, anywhere.
I can give you a very useful example of when spirit did this with me because I don't want to ramble too much. Ty and I were out on a bike ride in California one day and it was super hot. We were happy to be making it a breeze by moving. It was 107 degrees and we were riding along this beautiful trail, but it was along a highway. Suddenly, I had that catch and I noticed it was a billboard. There was nothing on the billboard that was meaningful to me. We had passed many billboards, but I knew how to pull a thread and ride my bike. You can do this anytime, anywhere.
I shifted my focus to the awareness that we're all connected to higher beings. I said, “Whoever snagged me with that billboard, what's up with that?” You don't have to be all formal. You just have a conversation. I suddenly had an image of a man in spirit who was the father of a client almost a year earlier. I brought through this spirit in the past, and that man owned a billboard company. After the reading, my client put me on a billboard with my book around the New York area.
Billboards are related to this guy. I said, “I was snagged by that man's father in spirit. What's up? Why are you snagging me?” He said to me, as I was riding my bike, “My son and his wife had the baby.” I remember in their reading, Dad showed me celebrating a pregnancy. I remember the son saying, “My dad knows about that. Does he know what gender it is?” I asked and he said it was a boy. The son said, “It is a boy. We know this.”
Here's Dad snagging me with a billboard on the trail with all kinds of messages about the baby like, “I know you gave him my middle name. I know you put it up on a billboard in a certain location.” He gave me the specifics, but it's too confidential to share, and several other things. I said to my husband, “I am sorry, but I have to call one of my former clients right now. His dad is here with a very important message.”
We found some shade and we're standing there sweating in 107 degrees. I called this guy and I said, “Your dad snagged me with a billboard. He knows you had the baby. The man burst into tears.” He said, “We had it last weekend.” I told him about the name. All of this was accurate. How can you deny the connection? I hope that brings hope to everyone. Your loved ones in spirit know about these big events. They don't miss the babies, graduations, and weddings. Why would they? They're there for all of it.
This is now a perfect opportunity for me to say, “Be more apparent if you're here and you want us to know, be more obvious.” I've said that a number of times to my spirits, and they have not done that for me.
Snagging is an easy way for them to get your attention but you need to practice being aware and noticing, “That was that little catch. Who has something for me? What is the meaning of that specific thing that caught me?” You then listen and trust that it's coming from outside of your own mind.
I have a quick question. Isn't it important for us to ask them to give us signs? We often expect they're just going to show up, but is it important to open that door and say, “I'm open to this?” They're not going to beat their head against the wall, I would assume.
You’re right. I interviewed with Cheryl Page. She works with medical people in the HIPAA rules, in the forms here in the US where you have to give permission to share information. She said it just like that. She's funny, but she's right. It's part of the rules of the game. They will make an effort to let you know that they are there, especially right after somebody passes, they're going to do their best. Give them permission and ask, “Come on, bring it on. Turn it up. I love this. It helps me.”
Here's another caveat. If you are too desperate and too needy, that can block the connection. A recent teaching that I think I gave in my monthly connection webinar is to feel the difference in your body between wanting something. I can't even say wanting and feeling it without my fist clenching and my gut going tight. Trusting the connection is here, “I already have a connection. I'm just waiting to be aware of it.” There’s a huge difference. Catch yourself.
If you are too desperate and needy, you will block your connection with the spiritual world.
We were talking about that before everybody came on and before you came on even, of just allowing instead of trying hard. They're more than willing, I have a feeling. We need to allow that and relax.
This is a good opportunity for Sally to read what somebody had written to the community.
Rabbi Nancy Tunick posted this question in the Life With Ghosts Facebook Community, “When we see signs from departed loved ones, did they influence the physical world or are they merely bringing our attention to something that is already here or,” and here's a possibility Stephen had added, “Are they manipulating how we're perceiving our physical world rather than changing it?”
You ask that question and my guides say it is a combination and dependent on the situation. In my book Wolf's Message, I know for a fact they manipulated my perception, my vision, and my hearing to make it appear as if a book on a bookshelf in a bookstore that I was led to physically move. I saw it move twice. I heard it move and yet even when that happened, I knew if somebody had been standing next to me, they would not have had that experience. All there is the experience of vibration.
I don't know about you, Sally, working as a medium, but I have done a reading where I smelled a moldy trunk that the loved one showed me was up in an attic and they opened up all these old musty photos. I could smell that mold and yet doing that particular reading, I had a cold. My nose was stuffed. If somebody had walked into the room carrying hot pizza, I could not have smelled it. Yet the experience, the sensation of that mold was as real as real mold.
Guides are saying it's much easier for spirits to manipulate one person's perceptions through manipulating frequencies in their energy field they're telling me now than to do something to set what the spiritualists understand as an abhor. In my book, Droplets Of God, the biography of Mavis Pittilla, my mentor, she talks about how she and her group would sit around for weeks, her development circle, week after week, singing, sending, love, raising the vibration to have physical mediumship.
Everybody in the circle saw an actual carrot come up through the floor and they were able to pick it up. I hear these stories and I think, “That's ridiculous. That's impossible. That is human thinking.” Anything is possible because this physical realm is not as physical and solid as it appears to us. Only occasionally are those in the spirit world allowed to change the rules or else then suddenly everyone would understand and the game would be over. We wouldn't keep working on ourselves to be more loving. We would stop ra trying to raise our consciousness. We wouldn't sit around in groups, sing songs, and love each other.
For one, I would like spirit to have the confidence in me that even if it presented itself to me very obviously, I would still strive. Could I ask for that?
Yeah.
I'll do that then. One thing that I liked from the book, the Awakened Way is where you talk about how we can rewrite energetically past events that are painful. How do we do that?
We have our own energy field with our own habits. What are habits? Patterns of reactions or ways that we process information and then react through our thoughts which become our words and our actions. We can't necessarily change how somebody reacted in the past, but in a meditative, expanded state of consciousness, we can journey back in our mind and have that experience, put ourselves back in any painful experience or something that we regret, something we are ashamed of and change our emotional reaction to it. We can give our forgiveness at that time, and that changes our energy field now. I've done it. I've experienced it. It's powerful and it helps us to vibrate higher moving forward.
Human Soul Dial
I'm going to ask you for a different story if you'll indulge us. In your book, you talk about a story in which you got into an altercation. You refer to it as an R-rated hand gesture. Is that something you want to save for readers of the book or are you going to share with us here?
All of us are both human and souls always at all times. Part of the fun of the challenge of being here is to see, “What are we displaying at this moment?” In the book, I use the metaphor of the human soul dial like a fuel gauge on a car. Here's the arrow that goes back and forth, and here's our human side. Here's our full side or soul side. The goal is to find this beautiful spot here where we are balancing the two and living in awareness of that.
We can't be saintly all the time. We're not programmed that way. We don't want to be fully human. I spent my first four decades being that way and now coming back this way and it's freedom, that balance. That's what the Awakened Way is all about. Finding the freedom and the balance in our lives. That moment that caused me to make that gesture was human 100%. I have plenty of those moments.
The thing is, once you've experienced that balance, you notice, “Let's dial it back. Let's use our tools to swing the other way,” because that's what happens. The more you swing in one direction, the more you can swing back the other way. Once you achieve that by doing something loving to counterbalance whatever you did that wasn't loving, now you're back in the center. That's why they call it being centered.
Do something of love to counterbalance your wrongdoings. It will bring you back to your center.
That's why I think I ascribed much importance to that story because it's as important for people to know the human Suzanne Giesemann as the mystic Suzanne Giesemann.
My assistant and dear friend Lynette is always telling me, “People look at you and they think you're like this perfect being, and your life is filled with joy.” My life is filled with joy, but we have moments. The difference is I notice those moments. I see things in myself that I want to change. I read something that I taught in the very beginning that you appreciate your teachers and that's the people you live with. The ones that push your buttons all the time.
I notice sometimes when I react very humanely to some of my husband's behaviors, I don't like my reactions. They don't feel as good as when I'm dialed up this way. I'm always asking my guides. That's what's wonderful. We have a team we can turn to, “What's a better way to handle that because he's not going to change and it's not my job to change him? What would be better?” I get to practice all the time.
Afterlife
What could you tell all of us about the afterlife? What is my dad doing over there? What are my friends doing over there? What's happening in their days? Is there entertainment there? What's happening?
It depends on how much more growth the soul wants and what story the soul is going to play out. This is a story we're playing here, “State your name,” and you take that story with you across the veil and you hang onto it as long as it helps. It may be that you already know you're much more than this story when you cross the veil, and yet you have loved ones back here who will heal from your presence as the one they know and love. You're going to hold onto the story.
We don't dissolve into nothingness. I know this because I reach out to loved ones across and here they are. Yet they show me, “I'm still stuck in this story. I'm still working on trying to say I love you to my loved one, but I feel it.” They say, “My eyes have been open. I didn't believe in the afterlife, but there's much love here. What happened last week? It was the most beautiful moment.” I rarely ask the spirits, “What are you doing across the veil?” because I can't prove it. My task is to find evidence.
I had this great connection with my client's daughter across the veil. I said out loud and it surprised me, “What are you doing across the veil?” I said, “Your daughter is showing me braiding.” Something that looks like the women in Charleston and Savannah where I live. They braid baskets and it looks like wheat or grass. It's yellow. She's braiding, “Would you have any idea why she's showing me that?” Her mom and her sister here said no. I said, “Are either one of you braiding jewelry or bracelets?” “No.” I said, “That's what she's showing me.”
Later on in the reading, she showed it to me. This is going off on a tangent from what you asked about the afterlife, but it's such a beautiful moment. Two days after that reading my client, the young woman in spirit's mom had a gathering of people who had been meeting for years practicing automatic writing, inspiration from spirit. They all met for the first time in person and they brought each other gifts. The last person to arrive at my client's house from across the country gave the last gift to my client. It was braided sage grass, yellow like wheat.
That wasn't what she was doing across the veil. It was what she was watching across the veil, watching that woman get it ready to take on the trip to present to her mom two days later. That one gives me goosebumps. I hope it helps everybody else to know that our loved ones do see what's going on in our lives. If we could see them all the time and have this open line of communication, we wouldn't all be sitting here celebrating that beautiful joyous moment. That's why.
Am I allowed to ask Sanaya a question directly? Am I allowed to do that?
You've been doing it all along.
Sanaya is constantly feeding you.
When I do these events, and you saw once or twice earlier, they catch me, they correct my words sometimes before they're even out of my mouth, “Don't say it that way.” I almost said a should earlier and they stopped me and said, “Don't do should. There are no shoulds.”
I would think with your military background, the sense of surrendering control would be difficult.
You are correct, but it's that way for most people, isn't it?
Physical Sensation
I know it's true for me, but I know there are plenty of people like jazz musicians for example. It's not that important. In my first interview with you, you pointed out that your lip quivers when Sanaya is in contact at times to let you know that Sanaya is available. I asked you if I could have that too. I want some physical sensation and you said, “Ask for it.”
Buzzing on the nose or a twitch in the eye.
You got a tickle in your hair. You have all kinds of things that Sanaya lets you know. It seems like my guides are not very touchy-feely. They're not giving me that and I want it very badly. Should I keep on asking?
If that question is for Sanaya, they're answering like they've answered every other question. This answer is coming from them and it's not meant as an insult, but it sounds like an insult but they said your skin is like leather to them.
It's funny because growing up my father always called me thin-skinned.
It's something in the vibration that they're working on.
Do you mean right now they're working on it or in general?
In general, your guides. Don't give up.
I would like less leathery skin and I would like to be able to feel stuff more. I'm very envious of you, Sally, and Gary because you all seem to be getting communication in a way that I want. I think a lot of people here are equally envious.
I get that. I want to see the spirits and I don't. This is part of the journey to be okay with how you are right now. That one of the daily way messages was that we're all like these plants. First comes the stalk and then the leaves, and then the blossom, and then the flower opens. You can't speed it up and you also don't know how fast that's going to happen. Enjoy where you are right now. For us, there's that relaxing and letting go of the wanting. Trust that it's coming. Your efforts are the fertilizer in the water.
If I were a newly bereaved parent, would you say, “Be patient?”
I would. That's hard-earned. We go, “I don't want to be patient. I need it now.” That's where I was that's why the journey requires fertilizer and water.
Reincarnation And Spiritual Hygiene
Gary, I think you had a question also that's apropos of the afterlife.
I’m happy to read it here. Vicki Fletcher from Life With Ghosts Facebook Community asks, “Do we have the choice in the afterlife as to whether we reincarnate?”
We do. How many of you, if you could only raise your hand, would say, “I'm never coming back.” I hear that all the time, “I'm never going to have peace again, why would I have signed up for this?” Yet, the more you go along on the journey, you realize we signed up for the good and the bad, the neat and the messy. We signed up for all of it, knowing that underneath it all is that unchanging joy. That's awakening. You get across the veil and you feel this, you remember this, you know this, and you say, “I’m going to take a little breather, but put me in again.”
Do you know what I also loved from the book? Spiritual hygiene. Could you explain to everybody what that is?
Sure. Everybody, raise your hand. How many of you bathe your body regularly? I hope everybody raises their hand, but how many people even think about cleaning your energetic body regularly? That's what energetic hygiene is. Not only your energetic body but the spaces you inhabit. Everything is energy. It either flows or becomes stagnant. The energetic dirt is what we need to clear out. That chapter on energetic hygiene has numerous tools and techniques for doing that.
Nobody ever told me at first, “You need to clear the energy in the room where you're doing readings.” I noticed this discernible decline in the clarity of my connection. What do you do when you don't know why something is going wrong? You go into meditation and you ask, “Somebody has the answer. I'm asking, why is my connection not so clear?” I heard, “You have done 600 readings in this room and you have never cleared the energy.” I said, “Do you mean I'm supposed to?” Nobody taught me that.
I teach it in my classes now. I teach some tools in the book about how to do that. Immediately, the connection went back up. I'm doing this interview in my own room, where I have worked to create beautiful energy. A PhD scientist stepped into this room and said, “It feels good in here.” That was so affirming because this is where I meditate and do my readings. It is very tangible.
When I am on the road traveling, if I ever do a webinar or an interview in a hotel room, I need to clear the energy first. Because I'm talking to my guides and interviews and because I'm channeling a lot of the answers, I'm open. My field is more expanded than normal. If I don't clear the energy first, I get nauseous and I get a headache.
Afterward, this is good for anybody. If you're ever on or up or working in a crowd or out in a situation, a crowd would cause people to to close off their energy. If you're ever in a performance setting or an interview, you can be overextended. We need to bring our energy back in. That's another thing nobody ever taught me. I would do an event and I'd lie in bed wide awake until I learned to take care of my energy field, bring it back in, and sedate it a little bit. Once you learn about energetic hygiene, it's extremely practical for our human lives.
Thank you.
I happen to notice the chat as it's coming up. Somebody said, “Could you offer some tips for clearing the energy?” I was interviewed by somebody who gave me an example of a nasty thought he thinks to himself. He said it out loud in the air and it hit me. The energy was like a smack. It was ugly. Without even thinking, I went like that. That is the simplest little tool to clear out that little thought bomb that somebody sent your way.
My poor husband, if we're in the car and he says something nasty to somebody in traffic, I sit over there and I go like this. It's using your body to follow your intention to clear that out of my field. You do something little like that on a regular basis. Sometimes I'll even roll the window down in the car to let that energy out. If you take care of your energy regularly, it doesn't build up to these big off-putting imbalances that now you feel out of sorts, then you need a major chakra clearing.
If you take care of your energy regularly, it will not build up to off-putting imbalances that will mess up your body.
On my website, on the gifts page is a meditation called the 10 Minute Transformation. I know hundreds of thousands of people use this. I use it myself. I listen to my own voice and the beautiful music that goes with it when I'm out of balance when this doesn't work. In 10 minutes or it's actually 12, you feel the difference. You can feel the balance.
Episode Wrap-Up
I have one more question before I turn the show over to Gary and Sally. I wanted to mention that you have a level two course that's available now.
I teach personal mediumship for people who don't intend to be a medium then I have a class in person called Serving Spirit, Level 1 and Level 2. We finally filmed that class professionally and turned it into an online workshop. It's called Making The Connection Level 2. You don't have to want to be a medium to take the course, but it certainly has the same tools that we can use for our own loved ones. That’s on my courses page.
People would go to SuzanneGiesemann.com. You also are teaching in Omega.
I am. That's a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday course in Rhinebeck, New York. It’s a beautiful natural setting with a pond. It's outdoors with a big lodge where we eat meals together. I've done this several years in a row and it's special energy there. We'll be teaching the tools and have a chance to practice making the connection with our own loved ones who have passed. Nobody has to do reading for each other. It's not that kind of a weekend. I'll be channeling my guides that weekend. It's going to be great. There's still room there.
